Fresh off the £20.5-million sale of forward Andre Ayew to West Ham, Swansea City has reportedly agreed to a club-record £15-million fee to bring on Atletico Madrid striker Borja Baston, according to Sky Sports.

The fee could rise to £17 million with add-on bonuses, and Baston is expected to undergo a medical on Tuesday night, with Swansea reportedly keen to wrap up the deal before Saturday's Premier League opening fixture against Burnley.

Baston, 23, would join compatriot Fernando Llorente at Liberty Stadium after enduring consecutive loan spells while in Spain and stints at Real Murcia, Huesca, Deportivo la Coruna, Real Zaragoza, and Eibar.

"I think (the Borja signing) is close, I think it is imminent," manager Francesco Guidolin said earlier in the window following a 1-0 friendly defeat of Stade Rennais. "I was happy with the squad before but I am more happy now because with Fernando Llorente and Borja Baston I think we have signed two good players, two very important players."

He scored 18 goals in 36 league appearances last season with Eibar.

The Swans' previous record signing came in the form of a £12-million purchase of striker Wilfried Bony out of Vitesse Arnhem back in 2013.
