Ibrahimovic: 'Something big on the go' at Manchester United

Zlatan Ibrahimovic senses "something big" happening at Manchester United.

The big Swede scored off a sensational scissor-kick Saturday to mark a successful debut with the club. He lined up alongside the likes of Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial, and fellow summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan - a front four the Premier League will likely see on a weekly basis.

But the arrival of Paul Pogba from Juventus would bring even more superstar power to a team of big names, and Ibrahimovic is clearly excited by the prospect.

"There is something big on the go, it's going to be very interesting this year. Let us say that if Pogba comes too, it's going to be very interesting," said the 34-year-old. "I'm going to help the team as much as I can and do what I'm good at: creating chances and scoring goals."

The deal to bring Pogba to Old Trafford is slated to cost United around €120 million - which would make the Frenchman the most expensive player of all time.

Negotiations are apparently at an advanced stage, with both parties said to be finalising all the paperwork, according to the Guardian's Fabrizio Romano. An announcement isn't expected this weekend.

In the meantime, Jose Mourinho's side played out an entertaining friendly in front of Ibrahimovic's fellow Swedes in Gothenburg against Galatasaray. Rooney bagged a brace, while Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata rounded out out the scoring in a 5-2 win.

Mourinho heavily rotated his players in the exhibition match and fielded 22 in all. Chris Smalling and Timothy Fosu-Mensah missed the encounter through injury, but the Portuguese manager confirmed everyone who hit the pitch on Saturday has a role to play in the season ahead.

"If the players were not in my plans I would not give them one single minute, I would not keep them in my squad," Mourinho said. "The squad is very competitive, the squad is very important for the season.

"We have 38 matches in the Premier League, we have the possibility of 15 matches in the Europa League, plus domestic cups, we are going to play 60 matches. So with 60 matches we cannot do it with 11 players."

Bastian Schweinsteiger - who's considered one of the nine on the outskirts of Mourinho's plans - wasn't called up for the contest. Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone also didn't feature despite being named on the team sheet.
