Manchester City protagonists Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho are expected to sign new deals with the club, with news of the Argentine's extension to be made official within the next two weeks, according to The Telegraph's James Ducker.

Both Aguero and Fernandinho are considered central components to Pep Guardiola's project. Ducker understands Aguero has already agreed to new terms on a 12-month extension to his current contract - which is set to expire in June 2019 - while Fernadinho's yet to open talks with City officials.

Aguero's proposal would mark a slight change to his initial plans. The 28-year-old said in March that he intended to return to former club Independiente upon the conclusion of the 2018-19 campaign, but he could now postpone his homecoming by another year.

There aren't expected to be any problems negotiating a new agreement with Fernandinho, who has two years remaining on his current deal.

In fact, Guardiola rates Fernandinho so highly that he believes the 31-year-old could play in virtually every outfield position.

"I think Fernandinho can play 10 positions," the former Barcelona manager said Wednesday. "He has the quality to play wherever. He could play at centre-back. He's a quick, fast player, so intelligent, aggressive, and strong in the air. He has the quality to create good build-up."

The future is not so clear for full-backs Pablo Zabaleta and Aleksandar Kolarov, defenders Jason Denayer and Eliaquim Mangala, and striker Wilfried Bony - all of whom are considered expendable, according to Ducker. Overweight midfielder Samir Nasri is also closer to the exit following Guardiola's decision to leave the Frenchman out of City's recent friendlies.
