Having missed out on Manchester United's pre-season foray into China, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is finally ready to end his holiday and join the squad for his first session under Jose Mourinho on Thursday at the club's Carrington ground, reports The Guardian.

The 34-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain star will be joined by fellow vacationers Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Anthony Martial, and Marouane Fellaini, all of whom were given extra rest after participating in Euro 2016.

For Mourinho, Thursday provides his first opportunity at training with a full squad, and while Ibrahimovic's time off has run a little long, Mourinho says it's all by design.

"The best suits are suits by measure. You go for a size that fits you," Mourinho said, according to The Guardian. "Same for players. No two players are the same. The decision on Zlatan is the consequence of many hours of study. He was out one match before the English guys.

"The body and mind is different. Even things you don't have to know. Players prepare in a different way. We are trying to do suits by measure and be perfect for the person."

While Ibrahimovic has been off, Wayne Rooney has been plugging away and is looking forward to linking up with the iconic Swede.

"I think he has been one of the best strikers in world football over the last 10 years and he has always won trophies everywhere he has been," Rooney said, of Ibrahimovic, according to The Guardian. "He is a huge character so I am looking forward to getting back, training with him, and hopefully forming a good partnership and being successful together."
