N'Golo Kante will wear No. 7 for Chelsea's coming season
N'Golo Kante will follow in Ramires' footsteps.
Chelsea announced Monday that Kante will don the Blues' No. 7 shirt for the coming season. The number was vacated by Ramires, who joined Jiangsu Suning of the Chinese Super League during this year's winter transfer window.
Kante moved from Leicester City to Chelsea just over one week ago for a reported transfer fee of £32 million and put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Blues. The French midfielder will link up with Antonio Conte and his new teammates during the club's preseason tour of North America, in which the club will take on Liverpool on Thursday in Pasadena, Calif. and Real Madrid on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
One of the three most significant players in Leicester's fairy-tale conquest of the Premier League, Kante tallied one goal and four assists in the Premier League last season while averaging 4.7 tackles and 4.2 interceptions per game.
