Arsenal supporters frustrated by the club's penny-pinching transfer policies take heed: club executive Ivan Gazidis won't be pressured into making moves.

While the rest of the Premier League's marquee clubs splash the cash to bolster their squads, Arsenal has added Granit Xhaka and two young players, Rob Holding and Takuma Asano, with an eye on the future. As frustrations grow among Gooners, Gazidis has addressed the club' approach to the transfer market.

"This approach, for us, gives us a very, very powerful balance because it's not just about spending money but about how you spend your money and doing it wisely," Gazidis told ESPN.

"It's about having a strong core philosophy and values within the club that players buy into and our fans can be proud of."

On the heels of last season's second-placed finish, the club's best Premier League standing since 2004-05, several weaknesses in the squad grew apparent, with pundits and supporters alike calling for the additions of a striker and centre-back.

Gazidis sees things differently.

"We've got a squad now that we believe is capable of competing to win the Premier League. We came in second last year, which was disappointing. But we're on the right track.

"These are all things that lead to success, and when you look at Arsenal over the last four or five years, there's no question that the squad has been progressing in strength."
