Everton is preparing a £25-million bid for Swansea City standout Gylfi Sigurdsson, one of manager Ronald Koeman's long-time targets, according to The Telegraph's John Percy.

Sigurdsson has emerged as one of the Premier League's deadliest set-piece threats, and his profile increased even further last month at Euro 2016, leading Iceland to the quarter-finals of a major tournament for the first time.

The 26-year-old has also been an obsession of Steve Walsh, the former Leicester City head of recruitment who joined Everton as its director of football Thursday. Walsh also worked with Chelsea and Newcastle United, and his eye for talent is excellent, with players like Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, and N'Golo Kante among his star-studded recommendations.

Sigurdsson could yet be Walsh's first order of business. He has scored 18 Premier League goals since joining Swansea from Tottenham in a lopsided deal in 2014 that sent goalkeeper Michel Vorm the other way.

Sigurdsson helped Swansea stave off relegation from the Premier League last season, with key performances in the last two months of the campaign.
