Arsenal is edging towards completing the signing of Bolton Wanderers' 20-year-old defender Rob Holding.
The Trotters reportedly accepted a £2-million offer for the England Under-21 international, and he then travelled to London on Monday night for a medical and to finalise personal terms, according to The Press Association.
Holding was voted Bolton's player of the year last season after making his professional debut in a League Cup tie with Burton Albion in August. He went on to make 30 appearances, showing he was comfortable at both right-back and centre-half.
News emerged of interest in Holding towards the end of last season's bottom-placed finish in the Championship. Interim manager Jimmy Phillips was instructed to leave him out of the starting XI for the final match of the season against Fulham due to the speculation distracting the youngster.
To replace Holding, who has been the books at Bolton since the age of seven, the club is sighting former Brighton & Hove Albion defender Gordon Greer, according to BBC Sport.
