No more loans for John Swift.

On Thursday, Swift swapped Stamford Bridge for Madejski Stadium, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with Reading that includes an option for a one-year extension.

Swift, 21, came through Chelsea's youth ranks and made his senior-team debut under Jose Mourinho in 2014, replacing Eden Hazard in the 89th minute of the Blues' 2-1 victory over Cardiff City on the final matchday of the 2013-14 Premier League season. The fixture would go on to mark his only appearance for the club, as he was subsequently sent out on loan to Rotherham United, Swindon Town, and Brentford.

"John is a very talented player," Japp Stam, Reading's manager, said. "I've seen him play and I think he could be very important in the way we want to play. He can play as a winger on either side, or as an attacking midfielder. His physique is good, he is good on the ball, he has the pace to get past players, and he has the capability of putting his teammates in front of goal with chances to score. He is going to be a big asset for the club."

Swift tallied seven goals through 27 Championship appearances at Brentford last season.
