Ajax has released a statement saying that the club will not entertain letting Arkadiusz Milik leave amid interest from a host of European outfits.

The Liverpool Echo's Phil Kirkbride reported that Everton was pursuing the Polish striker, and Napoli has previously been linked, but the Dutch giant has stressed that Milik isn't leaving and will return to training in Amsterdam as normal on July 22.

Whether Everton steps up its chase for Milik is believed to be dependent on if Belgium international Romelu Lukaku gets his wish to transfer away from Merseyside.

Milik was widely tipped for a breakout tournament at Euro 2016, but instead displayed an unfamiliar wastefulness in front of goal, bagging just one goal in five matches. Poland bowed at the quarter-final stage to eventual champion Portugal.

At club level, the 22-year-old scored 21 times and laid on seven assists in 28 Eredivisie starts last term as Ajax finished runner-up to PSV Eindhoven. It was his first season with the side on a permanent basis after failing to make the grade at Bayer Leverkusen.

Milik is expected to be available for Ajax's season opener at Sparta Rotterdam on Aug. 7.
