Report: Giggs ends 29-year stay at Manchester United

The definition of a one-club man, Ryan Giggs is reportedly done at Manchester United.

According to Simon Stone of BBC Sport, Giggs has agreed to a settlement with the only club he's ever known, leaving United after 29 years with the Red Devils.

Giggs was appointed as United's assistant manager in May 2014, but the two parties were apparently unable to reach an agreement over another job for the Welshman with Jose Mourinho intending to designate Rui Faria, a longtime friend of the Special One, as his right-hand man.

Over the course of 24 seasons, Giggs, who joined United's academy on his 14th birthday, tallied 963 appearances for the Red Devils - more than anyone in the club's history. He turned professional in November 1990 at the age of 17, and made his first-team debut against Everton four months later.

After winning 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League crowns, and two FA Cup trophies, Giggs served a short stint as United's caretaker manager before becoming the Red Devils' assistant manager under Louis van Gaal, who was sacked in May. It was then that the club allegedly made an offer to retain him in a different role that, according to Jamie Jackson of the Guardian, was within its youth set-up.

One year remains on Giggs' contract at United, and an official statement is reportedly expected from the Red Devils in the coming days.
