West Ham chairman: Bilic not tempted by England job

West Ham chairman David Gold believes Slaven Bilic won't be tempted by suggestions he could succeed Roy Hodgson as England's next permanent manager.

Bilic - who just completed a successful first season in London in which he guided the Hammers to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League - is currently an 18-1 outsider to take the England job, according to Sky Bet.

"I don't believe he would be the slightest bit interested in taking on England. I don't believe he will be tempted away by anything," said Gold.

Bilic has experience at the helm of a national team, as he guided Croatia to Euro 2008.

He served as a pundit for ITV during the group stage of this summer's tournament, showing a zeal behind the desk similar to his antics on the sideline.

He has a contract with West Ham until June 2018, and with the Europa League and a new stadium on the horizon, Gold doesn't see any reason for Bilic to move.

"England is simply not part of Slaven's mission. We have backed him 100 percent and he us. Our commitment to each other is total," said Gold.

"This is his club and he is on his way to a great thing at the Olympic Stadium."

Hodgson resigned following England's ignominious defeat to Iceland in the Round of 16.
