Report: Bony return to Swansea unlikely

Swansea City is on the lookout for at least two strikers this summer as it attempts to offload Alberto Paloschi, but Wilfried Bony won't be among those moving to the Liberty Stadium.

The Ivorian left for Manchester City for around £28 million in January 2015, but Gareth Vincent of the South Wales Evening Post reports it's unlikely he'll return to the Swans after a miserable 17 months in Lancashire.

It's apparently the Swansea hierarchy that pulled the plug on a potential deal. The board hasn't been particularly impressed with Bony's performance - he mustered a mere six goals in 36 Premier League appearances at City - for a club with higher aspirations, and is put off by the fact he could incur a large transfer fee and wages.

In addition to Paloschi, who's struggled since an £8-million January switch from Chievo Verona, there are questions marks over the futures of Eder, Bafetimbi Gomis, and Andre Ayew in Francesco Guidolin's attack. The Italian manager is desperate to keep hold of the latter, however, amid reported interest from Sunderland, Liverpool, and West Ham United.

Given this potential frontline exodus, the Swansea scouts are in overdrive to find new recruits.

The Swans are slated to begin their preparation for the 2016-17 campaign in a friendly against the Richmond Kickers in Virginia.
