Red Bulls' Shaun Wright-Phillips, Gonzalo Veron loaned to reserves

Shaun Wright-Phillips and Gonzalo Veron have been sent out on loan to New York Red Bulls II, the franchise's United Soccer League affiliate, after their respective MLS struggles.

The pair, a 36-time England international and Designated Player, respectively, joined the Harrison outfit amid much fanfare but have fallen below expectations.

Wright-Phillips, older brother to 2014 MLS Golden Boot winner Bradley Wright-Phillips, was reunited with his sibling for the first time since he left Manchester City for Chelsea in 2005, but managed a mere one goal and one assist over 17 appearances since joining last summer.

Veron joined the Red Bulls just nine days later but his stay has been compounded by a succession of injuries. He nicked a goal in the 7-0 rout of archrival New York City FC on May 21.

Both are expected to line up in Thursday's third-tier meeting with Harrisburg at the Red Bull Arena.
