Jerome Boateng doesn't believe England has a shot at Euro 2016
England may be filled to the brim with exciting new prospects at Euro 2016 but German defender Jerome Boateng doesn't believe the Three Lions have a shot at winning the title when compared to the continent's other contenders.
Roy Hodgson's side boasts plenty of new faces, with Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, and Dele Alli now helping form the attacking core of England's offense, one that eased through the qualifying stages of the competition.
But Boateng isn't convinced, even after losing 3-2 to the Three Lions on March 26.
"England beat us 3-2 in Berlin but I do not know if in matters of quality and consistency they have enough for an entire tournament," Boateng told German Railway DB Mobil magazine, as quoted by Reuters.
"Spain, France, and Belgium are in my opinion candidates for the semi-finals ... along with our team of course."
The English national team hasn't won a major international tournament in 50 years, last winning the 1966 FIFA World Cup at home.
Hodgson's side kicks off its Euro 2016 campaign on June 11 against Russia in Group B, before taking on Wales five days later and wrapping up the group stage against Slovakia on June 20.
