Leicester City is looking to Russia for reinforcements ahead of its title defence with confirmation from CSKA Moscow that the Premier League champions submitted a bid for forward Ahmed Musa.

The Russian team manager, Leonid Slutskiy, revealed Leicester - who initially showed an interest in the Nigerian international during the winter transfer window - submitted a transfer bid in the region of £23 million.

Slutskiy, however, didn't say where the club stood in regards to accepting or rejecting the offer, but added Musa appears to be keen to join Leicester and work with Italian manager Claudio Ranieri.

"The British club offered a bit less than €30 million (£22.86 million)," Slutskiy said on Match TV, as translated by Sky Sports.

"Musa came to me a few days ago and asked when he (Ranieri) is back for the holidays and I told him I do not know, I do not know Ranieri."

The asking price has reportedly increased for the 23-year-old since Leicester's first approach, with the Russian club's valuation swelling from £18 million to £23 million.

Musa was vital during CSKA's journey to Russian Premier League glory after scoring 18 goals during 44 appearances to help the team win the title.
