Report: De Gea willing to stay at United to work with Jose Mourinho

Had Manchester United or Real Madrid been ever-so-slightly quicker in their respective clerical work, David De Gea wouldn't be at Old Trafford today.

However, despite the comical nature of the collapsed deadline deal between the two parties, De Gea is now reportedly willing to stick around at Manchester United in order to work under the club's next supposed manager, Jose Mourinho.

Manchester Evening News' Samuel Luckhurst reports the Spanish shot-stopper is happy to continue with the Red Devils - despite wanting away for Real Madrid this time last year - now that Louis van Gaal's no longer at the helm of the club.

Under Van Gaal, the 25-year-old Spanish international was omitted for the first six games of the 2015-16 Premier League season, but returned to the fray and reestablished himself as the first-choice 'keeper for United.

De Gea conceded just 33 goals last season with the club while also making 80 saves.

He finished the campaign with 15 clean sheets - one shy of Arsenal 'keeper Petr Cech, who earned the Golden Glove with 16. De Gea conceded a last-gasp goal to Bournemouth in the 93rd minute of play in the final match of the year.
