Arsenal unveils 2016-17 home kit
Just weeks after finishing second in the Premier League standings, Arsenal wasted no time in unveiling its new kit for the 2016-17 campaign.
In addition to revealing its new home jerseys, Arsenal also announced Monday that superstar Alexis Sanchez has traded in his No. 17 strip for a No. 7 shirt.
Arsenal players Olivier Giroud, Hector Bellerin, and Santi Cazorla helped model the new kits, which were designed by Puma.
The vertical stripe down the front of the red-and-white shirt is one of the biggest differences from past versions, as well as a change to the collar.
“We are really pleased with the way it looks," Bellerin told the team's website. "I think the fans are really going to like it. It’s a bit of a throwback as well. I like the design with the line in the centre, it’s something different. I’ve seen the players modelling it and I think it’s going to look really good.”
A day earlier, Arsenal supporters appeared to get a glimpse of the new jersey when images emerged Sunday of Granit Xhaka, who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal from Borussia Monchengladbach, modeling the strip.
