Best player tweets of the Premier League season

Jamie Vardy / Twitter

It's best to let the professionals babysit the professional athletes on social media.

The filter between the brain and their fingers ceases to exist when emotions are running high and they just have to let off some steam.

At times, words aren't even needed when the simplicity of a photo can tell the story.

It's especially fun for football supporters who catch a glimpse of an athlete letting their guard down before realising the mistake and deleting the post. But, thanks to the invention of the screenshot, it never goes away.

Here's a collection of the best player tweets from an unforgettable Premier League season:

Dele Alli/Eric Dier, Tottenham

It's hard not to appreciate Tottenham starlet Dele Alli.

And it's not just his skills on the pitch that's enamoured fans. His "bromance" with teammate Eric Dier has kept football supporters entertained.

The banter between the two on social media even caught the attention of IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua when Ali tried his hand at becoming the next Don King:

Saido Berahino, West Brom

Twitter has not been Saido Berahino's friend.

After a summer of uncertainty, a move away from West Brom never materialised, thus leading to a social media hissy fit when he vowed never to play for the club's chairman ever again:

In the end, he did suit up for the Baggies but found himself in a similar position as the January transfer window closed. Only this time, Berahino opted for a more mature response when he said, "Everyone waiting once again for the silly little spoilt boy to make same mistake so here you go.

"Goodnight all and thanks for the support."

Joleon Lescott, Aston Villa

The fact that this tweet from Joleon Lescott still exists is an example of how obtuse the Aston Villa defender is when it comes to social media.

Lescott received plenty of negative attention when he posted a picture of a luxurious sports car in the hours after Villa's embarrassing 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool.

Smooth move for a guy who captained one of the poorest defensive teams in the Premier League's history.

Jamie Vardy, Leciester City

The mic drop, Twitter style.

After Leicester City secured its first Premier League title, Jamie Vardy took to social media to have a dig at Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

In response to Kane's Instagram post where he published a picture of a pack of lions on the hunt - in reference to Tottenham hoping to catch Leicester atop the table - Vardy unleashed some fire when he countered with an infamous scene of Mufasa from "The Lion King" falling to his death.

It was a solid repsonse, but equally devastating for those forced to relive the childhood heartbreak of watching Simba grow up without a dad.
