Report: Arteta will join Guardiola's coaching staff at Manchester City

Mikel Arteta's future is reportedly decided.

According to Juan Castro of Marca, Arteta will become part of Pep Guardiola's coaching staff when the Catalan manager takes over at Manchester City on July 1.

The 34-year-old's contract at Arsenal expires this summer, and he will apparently hang up his cleats following a five-year spell with the Gunners in order to kick off his managerial career in northern England.

It was reported in February that Guardiola may offer Arteta a coaching post at City, as the Basque player was taking his coaching badges while recovering from a recurring calf injury. It was subsequently reported in April that Mauricio Pochettino wanted him to join the Tottenham Hotspur coaching staff.

Of course, Arteta and Guardiola are both graduates of Barcelona's La Masia, something that may or may not have contributed to the former's decision to join City.

In the last Premier League season, Arteta made only nine appearances, all of which were as a substitute.
