Ings returns to Liverpool training 7 months after ACL tear

Danny Ings, who suffered what was suspected to be a season-ending knee injury in October, returned to full training with Liverpool ahead of schedule Wednesday.

Ings tore his ACL during manager Jurgen Klopp's first training session at Melwood, and the initial prognosis ruled out the 23-year-old striker for the remainder of the campaign.

Although Ings cannot feature for Liverpool in the second leg of its Europa League semi-final against Villarreal on Thursday - he wasn't registered in the European squad - the Englishman could make an appearance in one of the club's last three Premier League matches.

"I had something like half an hour with him on the pitch. It's so unlucky I can't believe," Klopp said. "Since then, I have known more about him as a person than as a professional footballer. If he is as good a player as he is a person, we look forward to having him on the pitch."

The injury interrupted Ings' first season with the Reds after sealing a transfer from Burnley. A Premier League tribunal settled the fee last week at £6.5 million.
