Yaya Toure may buy out Manchester City contract, agent says

Dimitri Seluk, the incessant mouthpiece and representative of Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, said his client could buy out the final year of his contract in Eastlands.

The 32-year-old's current deal runs until the conclusion of the 2016-17 campaign, but the Ivorian may opt to end his stay a year early amid uncertainty over his future in the north-west.

"This is unacceptable. A player like Yaya Toure should not be moving towards the last year of his contract wondering if he is going to get a new deal," Seluk complained to the Daily Mirror.

"He is 32. He has three or four years left at the top and City must tell Yaya now what they want to do."

Seluk previously announced that Toure will leave in June due to the contract standoff, but now the agent appears to have softened his stance, suggesting the leggy veteran could end his career with City.

"The best idea would be to give Yaya a three-year contact that will keep him at the club for the rest of his career," he said. "The second is to say 'thank you' and allow him to leave for nothing."

Toure has ambitions to continue to play at the top of the continental game, and is eyeing a second Champions League triumph to add to the one he won with Barcelona in 2009. City is currently in the competition's quarter-final stage, and will play its second leg against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. Unless a new offer is tabled to Toure, though, he's on his way out.

"I will not let Yaya waste a year at City. I will not let City keep him because, in one more year, his chances of joining another big club will be smaller," Seluk continued.

"I will go to FIFA. I will write to them and tell them that we will buy Yaya out of his contact. We can do this. It is an option. This is not a threat. I promise you that Yaya will leave City this summer one way or another if they don't offer him a new contract.

"And there will be nothing that even Sheikh Mansour can do about it."

Toure was unable to feature in last Wednesday's first leg against PSG at the Parc des Princes, but will be available for selection in the completion of the tie on Tuesday.
