Spurs' Sandro has knee surgery
London, England (Sports Network) - Tottenham midfielder Sandro has undergone surgery after suffering a knee injury in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Queens Park Rangers.
The Brazil international was substituted after just 25 minutes, having gone down holding his right knee as he stretched for the ball.
"Sandro has undergone knee surgery following the injury that forced his substitution against QPR at the weekend," the club said in a statement. "The midfielder's recovery schedule will be assessed over the next few days."
The 23-year-old also took to his Twitter account after receiving news of his surgery, saying: "Sorry guys, but this one really got me, the beast is hurt..."
Sandro joined Tottenham in July 2010 from Internacional and made 25 appearances in his first season at White Hart Lane and 27 in the second while scoring once in each campaign.
He also had been capped by his country 16 times and helped them claim the silver medal at last summer's Olympic Games in London.
