Tottenham's Parker out after surgery on Achilles
London, England (Sports Network) - Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker underwent successful surgery on his right Achilles and will be sidelined until after the September international break, his club announced Thursday.
Parker, 31, will miss the start of the English Premier League season, as well as the start of World Cup qualifying for England. He played 34 games for Spurs last season in league play and has been capped 17 times for England.
He missed the end of the league season last year with an Achilles injury, but played for England at Euro 2012. Parker is expected to be sidelined six weeks.
