West Brom snaps up midfielder Yacob

West Bromwich, England (Sports Network) - West Bromwich bolstered its midfield on Wednesday with the signing of Claudio Yacob on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old joins West Brom from Argentina's Racing Club after his contract expired this summer.

Yacob joined Racing in 2006 and went on to make 147 appearances for the club prior to his departure this summer.

Having been capped three times by Argentina, Yacob joins the Baggies on a three-year contract, and manager Steve Clarke feels he will bring something different to the side.

"Claudio's got different qualities to the other midfielders we've got at the club and he should complement the squad very well," Clarke told West Brom's official website.

"It will take him a little bit of time to adjust to the demands of the English game and he's also got to learn our language, but we hope to have him up and running for the start of the season."
