Chilean forward Eduardo Vargas must have wondered how his kick sailed into the back of the net against the mighty Brazilians. But he won't care how, only that it did, as Chile took a 1-0 lead over Brazil with his effort.

The 1899 Hoffenheim striker opened the scoring for Chile in the 75th minute, getting his foot on a curling free kick and redirecting the ball past goalkeeper Jefferson to bring the home crowd to life in the second half.

Chile is looking for three points against the South American heavyweights as qualifying begins in the region for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
