If the United States men's national team was feeling even remotely confident that it could climb back from a 2-0 deficit, those hopes were quickly dashed by Argentina forward Gonzalo Higuain, who scored a simple tap-in goal early in the second half off an Ezequiel Lavezzi cross.
At this point, Jurgen Klinsmann will only hope his team leaves NRG Stadium with its dignity intact.
