Real Madrid's Navas to have Achilles injury assessed

Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas will continue to be assessed after the Costa Rican suffered tendinitis in his left Achilles tendon in Wednesday's 1-0 victory over Manchester City.

The gifted shot-stopper had to make a dash from his area to clear danger during a rare foray forward from City in the Champions League semi-final second leg, and then went down to receive attention from medical staff before playing out the rest of the fixture.

Following last summer's failed move for Manchester United's David De Gea, Navas has thrived between the sticks for Real Madrid. This summer he'll compete in the Copa America Centenario, where Costa Rica has been drawn in a tough group with the United States, Colombia, and Paraguay.

Real Madrid takes on Valencia in Sunday's La Liga action, and sits one point adrift of league-leading Barcelona and second-placed Atletico Madrid, against whom Los Blancos will face in the Champions League final.
