Duff, 36, joined the League of Ireland Premier Division side after a one-year spell with Aussie club Melbourne City. He's most renowned for spells with Blackburn, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Fulham.

While with Blackburn, Duff won the League Cup and made PFA Team of the Year before moving to Chelsea, where the winger won consecutive Premier League titles in 2004-05, 2005-06, and a second League Cup trophy.

"After much deliberation, I have today decided to bring my professional football career to an end," Duff told the Rovers official website Monday.

"I am extremely proud to have won 100 caps for my country - it was always my greatest pleasure to represent Ireland and I have many magical memories from my international career."

With 100 caps, Duff was Ireland's most seasoned international behind Robbie Keane, Shay Given, Kevin Kilbane, John O'Shea, and Steve Staunton.

"While I have finished playing, I am progressing with my coaching badges and will stay involved in the game for many years to come," Duff said.
