Familiarity will reign supreme during the Round of 16 in this season's Champions League.

The draw for the first knockout stage of Europe's crown jewel competition was conducted on Monday in Nyon, Switzerland, and to the surprise of absolutely nobody - but likely much to the chagrin of many who saw their teams paired with Europe's elite - the ping pong balls adorned with the tournament's iconic logo were drawn in a manner that will see a host of old foes reunited.

Tournament favourites Barcelona will meet Arsenal in what is both a rematch of the 2005-06 final, and the standout fixture of the round.

And the fun didn't stop there.

Bayern Munich's duo of Arturo Vidal and Kingsley Coman will return to Torino after leaving Juventus in the summer, as the reigning German and Italian champions will lock horns.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will once again clash with Paris Saint-Germain. It was always going to end that way, wasn't it?

Here are the complete results of Monday's draw:

Arsenal vs. Barcelona

  • First leg: Tuesday, Feb. 25 (Emirates Stadium)
  • Second leg: Wednesday, March 16 (Camp Nou)

Instant Analysis: Is anybody surprised? Arsene Wenger could likely muster little more than a chuckle upon seeing his Gunners being drawn alongside arguably the most devastating attacking force the sport has ever seen for a third time in the last five seasons. In order to avoid a sixth successive exit at this stage of the competition, Arsenal will need to figure out a way to slow the three-headed monster of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar, while its own trident - Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, and Olivier Giroud - will need to be nothing short of brilliant.

Juventus vs. Bayern Munich

  • First leg: Tuesday, Feb. 25 (Juventus Stadium)
  • Second leg: Wednesday, March 16 (Allianz Arena)

Instant Analysis: Arturo Vidal and Kingsley Coman departed the Juventus Stadium this summer, so naturally the UEFA gods ensured there would be a swift reunion. These two continental giants met in the quarterfinal of the 2012-13 edition of the tournament, where the Bavarian club was dominant. While the Old Lady has grown exponentially since that time, a gap in quality still exists, and Bayern will be favoured to advance once again from what could be the best tie of them all.

Paris Saint-Germain vs. Chelsea

  • First leg: Tuesday, Feb. 16 (Parc des Princes)
  • Second leg: Wednesday, March 9 (Stamford Bridge)

Instant Analysis: Paris Saint-Germain topped Chelsea in dramatic fashion in last season's Champions League, avenging a crushing defeat from the year prior in the same competition. It's only right that we now have a rubber match. The critical question here is obvious: Which version of the Blues is going to show up? The abomination that has looked devoid of attacking ideas and defensive solidity in the Premier League, or the one that has been solid in the Champions League? If we get the latter, we could have a fun tie on our hands. If not, PSG will likely waltz into the next round.

Benfica vs. Zenit St. Petersburg

  • First leg: Tuesday, Feb. 16 (Estadio da Luz)
  • Second leg: Wednesday, March 9 (Petrovsky Stadium)

Instant Analysis: Sneaky good. Lacking the sex appeal of the matches outlined above, Zenit St. Petersburg - who dominated the group stage - will meet Benfica in an intriguing clash between two clubs firmly entrenched in the second tier of Europe's elite.

Roma vs. Real Madrid

  • First leg: Wednesday, Feb. 17 (Stadio Olimpico)
  • Second leg: Tuesday, March 8 (Santiago Bernabeu)

Instant Analysis: Poor Roma. After being drawn alongside Barcelona - and promptly being pasted 6-1 in their group stage trip to the Camp Nou - the Italian club will now make a voyage to Spain's other football fortress. Real Madrid has been far from spectacular this season, but should still be the heavy favourite against a Roma side that's looked increasingly suspect at the back as the campaign has continued.

KAA Gent vs. Wolfsburg

  • First leg: Wednesday, Feb. 17 (Ghelamco Arena)
  • Second leg: Tuesday, March 8 (Volkswagen Arena)

Instant Analysis: Wolfsburg emerges as the big winner of the draw, drawing the Belgian minnow - who should be overjoyed to simply be alive at this stage of the competition. KAA Gent's journey to the knockout stage has been a compelling, wonderful story, but barring something unforeseen, it ends here.

Dynamo Kyiv vs. Manchester City

  • First leg: Wednesday, Feb. 24 (NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium)
  • Second leg: Tuesday, March 15 (Etihad Stadium)

Instant Analysis: How quickly things change. With 10 minutes remaining in the club's final group stage match, Manchester City was trailing Borussia Monchengladbach, and was on the verge of a second-place finish and, potentially, a crippling knockout stage draw. Three goals and first place in Group D later, and the Citizens are laughing. No disrespect to Dynamo Kyiv, but failure to advance would be a disaster for City.

PSV vs. Atletico Madrid

  • First leg: Wednesday, Feb. 24 (Philips Stadion)
  • Second leg: Tuesday, March 15 (Vicente Calderon)

Instant Analysis: Everybody is sneaking on Atletico Madrid, who may just be the best defensive team in Europe right now. PSV has already claimed one major scalp in the tournament this season, sending Manchester United packing in the group stage - with some help from Wolfsburg. This task, though, will likely prove too much to ask of the Dutch side.
