Keylor Navas admits Real Madrid is 'hurting' after El Clasico defeat

Goalkeeper Keylor Navas said Real Madrid's squad is "really hurting" after the club was humiliated 4-0 at the hands of Barcelona on Sunday.

It was an El Clasico which saw the Bernabeu home support turn against its side, and most notably against star forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

"We're all really hurting because of what happened; we're professionals and we're aware that we put in a very bad display," the Costa Rican told the club website.

Both the players and the coaching staff take responsibility for their mistakes and we know that there are aspects we have to change if we're to be successful. We're out to fight to achieve the goals that we have in front of us. It's down to us, and over the remainder of the season we want to bounce back.

The defeat made it two in a row for Los Blancos, who is currently enduring a tough 5000 mile round trip to Shakhtar Donetsk in Wednesday's Champions League action.

Real has already secured progression into the round of 16, but the club can cement a first-place finish in Group A with a win and if Paris Saint-Germain fails to claim three points at Malmo.

Navas is aware of the threat the Miners pose, though.

"We have to play with intelligence against Shakhtar and put in a really focused performance if we want to win."

Recent form has left Real Madrid six points adrift of La Liga leader Barca in third, and both the fans and squad will expect improvement in the visit to Eibar on Sunday.
