Messi pleased with his 2 goals as Barcelona qualifies for Round of 16

Lionel Messi is back.

After a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a torn knee ligament, Messi returned to action in fine form Tuesday, scoring a pair of goals and playing the full 90 minutes as Barcelona routed AS Roma 6-1 at Nou Camp.

While goals have never been hard to come by for the Argentine, these two felt special considering they came after a long road to recovery.

"My injury dragged on a bit," Messi told reporters. "I was raring to get back on the pitch and play again, although I enjoyed watching the team from the sidelines.

"I'm good, improving little by little as is expected after any injury. I'm getting playing time and building up confidence, getting back into shape physically. I'm happy with the 90 minutes I played."

With the victory, the Blaugrana secured a spot in the Champions League Round of 16.

That said, Messi isn't getting complacent.

"The team is playing really well, but there's a long way to go," Messi said. "It's far from over. We've some very important things ahead, like the Club World Cup and let's hope we can keep it up."

Messi wasn't the only one firing on all cylinders, as his strike partners Luis Suarez and Neymar were also exceptional, with the former scoring a pair of goals, too. While Messi isn't sure if their relationship is the key to the team's success, he confirmed they love playing together.

"We get on really well and try to enjoy every game we play," he said. "We try to do things well, we like to play, we feel a responsibility and we like to win. We get along."
