Roma goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny suffered a dislocated finger in his left hand against Barcelona on Wednesday, the Italian club confirmed.

Further tests will be conducted in the coming hours to verify the extent of the injury.

Szczesny appeared to stub his left hand as he scrambled to make a save on Luis Suarez in the second half.

Backup Morgan De Sanctis, 38, replaced his Polish counterpart in the 50th minute.

De Sanctis was the starter for Roma last season, making 39 appearances for the Giallorossi in all competitions. But Szczesny arrived in Rome on a season-long loan from Arsenal this summer, and he immediately took the No. 1 job. He has played in all four matches so far between Serie A and the Champions League.
