Champions League: Top 5 moments
The Champions League was jam-packed with memorable moments that will be remembered for years to come.
Here's five of the top moments from the 2014-15 edition:
5. Luiz Adriano scores 5
Of all the talent in the Champions League, few would have predicted Luiz Adriano would match the group-stage scoring record.
He likely wouldn't have been close to Ronaldo's mark had it not been for his superb performance against BATE Borisov when he found the back of the net five times during Shakhtar Donetsk's 7-0 victory.
4. Porto stuns Bayern Munich before 2nd leg demolition
FC Porto paid the price for topping Bayern Munich and making them angry.
The Portuguese club pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the tournament when they defeated Pep Guardiola's juggernaut 3-1 in the opening leg of their quarter-final tie at the Estadio do Dragao.
They had a chance. Until they didn't.
Their luck ran out in the return leg, as their dreams of advancing were erased when they suffered a 6-1 beatdown.
3. Xavi breaks appearance record
Xavi made history Saturday when he entered the Champions League final and became the owner of the tournament's appearance record.
In his final match with Barcelona before leaving to play in Qatar, Xavi made his 151st Champions League appearance when he relieved Andres Iniesta in the second half of Barca's 3-1 win over Juventus.
2. Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's scoring record seesaw
The race to see who would break the Champions League scoring record was settled early on in the tournament when Lionel Messi beat out Cristiano Ronaldo during the group stage.
Adding insult to injury was the fact that he broke the record owned by legendary Real Madrid forward Raul after scoring his 72nd goal during a hat-trick performance against APOEL.
Ronaldo followed soon after and the two traded spots atop the leaderboard throughout the tournament.
For the moment, however, the pair share the record and sit at 77 goals apiece.
1. Xavi ends Barcelona career on top of the world
It was a finish straight out of Hollywood for Spain's most accomplished player.
Xavi saw his career with Barcelona end on the highest of highs as the midfielder leaves the Camp Nou with the honour of being part of a treble-winning side, capped off by Saturday's Champions League victory.
Although his career isn't over, as he gets set for life in the Qatar Stars League, the most important chapter in his playing career has officially closed.
