Luis Suarez on booing: 'There are certain types of players like me who get more inspired'

Luis Suarez's brace at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday placed Barcelona within 90 minutes of the quarterfinals of the Champions League and essentially marked Manchester City's demise in the competition.

His first goal, which came in the 16th minute, followed a chorus of booing that descended onto the pitch each time he touched the ball. But for a player like Suarez, who's no stranger to criticism and whose behaviour is among the most peculiar in the footballing world, the booing only leads to improved play, as he pointed out following the Catalan club's 2-1 win.

"There are certain types of players like me who get more inspired, more motivated when fans boo them, it helps motivate you a bit more," Suarez said, according to the Guardian.

In other words, Joe Hart was the real victim of the booing from City supporters. Suarez's brace means he's now scored five goals from his last six shots on target on Hart in all competitions, including the World Cup.
