Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp on loss to Juventus: 'The result is fair'

Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp admitted his side deserved their fate in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Juventus, though he noted the result leaves his team with a very good chance of progressing to the quarterfinals.

The eccentric bench boss rued his side's defensive errors, which led to Juventus's two goals, but said that on the balance of the evening, it was Massimiliano Allegri's team that deserved the victory.

"Yes, the result is fair," he was quoted as saying by ESPN FC. "We did lots really, really well in the first half, but we conceded two soft goals. In the second half, I had to change early on. Juve had two big chances and I can't remember any big chances we had. If we were to lose, then we had to hold it at 2-1, and we did that. And now we move on.

"There wasn't more in the game for us today so we've got to accept the result."

The Dortmund manager continued:

"On the one side we had shown respect for Juve's quality and that led to us defending a bit deeper," Klopp said. "The second goal was because we were too deep. To leave Morata room a few yards out is not a good idea. We did concede unnecessary goals.

"I don't think Juve have often been under as much pressure as we put (on) them tonight, although we get nothing for that. We're still in the race after this result and that's the most important thing."
