The greatest 'keeper on the planet will be unavailable for Germany's friendly against Spain on Tuesday.

Germany manager Joachim Low announced that Manuel Neuer will be forced to miss the rematch of the Euro 2008 final as he left the team's hotel due to pain in his right knee and will not rejoin the squad at their scheduled meet-up Sunday.

"I would have liked to play with the best team possible against Spain but we didn't want to take any risks with Manuel," Low said. "We have two excellent alternatives in the form of Roman Weidenfeller and Ron-Robert Zieler, who will have more than deserved an appearance against Spain. I know that I can completely rely on them both."

It's unclear how Neuer suffered the injury, but it's hard to imagine that he picked it up during Germany's 4-0 win Gibraltar on Friday as this is how he spent the majority on his 90 minutes on the pitch:

As Low pointed out, Germany have two solid back-up 'keepers in Weidenfeller and Zieler. However, the news is more concerning for Bayern Munich, who are already without Pepe Reina and Tom Starke, and may now be forced to field 20-year-old 'keeper Leopold Zingerle if Neuer is unavailable once he returns from international duty.
