Vincent Kompany asks 'why the hell' Manchester City fans weren't at CSKA Moscow

Vincent Kompany wants some answers as to why approximately 350 CSKA Moscow supporters were in attendance at the Arena Khimki on Tuesday.

The match, which ended in a 2-2 draw, was played behind closed doors due to the misconduct of CSKA fans during the club's loss to Roma last month. But despite the stadium ban, a heavy contingent of Russian supporters attended the fixture, leading many to wonder how they were allowed inside.

Speaking after the final whistle, Kompany demanded an explanation, even though he doesn't believe that the lack of travelling support had much of an effect of his side.

"No, it didn't have an effect on the players," Kompany said. "It doesn't have an effect, it's just little things when you leave with a result like this, obviously you can't deny there's a bit of frustration, and I'm not looking for an excuse.

"But if you want to play it fair then, fair enough, you've got to let your sponsors have some tickets but why the hell do we not have any fans here? Why? What have our fans done wrong? So it needs to be looked at, it needs to be changed, because our fans shouldn't be punished."

City have already filed an official complaint with UEFA, who were monitoring the crowd at the match and allocated up to 300 tickets for sponsors and another 150 tickets for media. It's been suggested that some of those tickets were sold to CSKA supporters. UEFA admit they have zero control over where the tickets ultimately end up.
