VIDEO: Remy's patience gives Chelsea early lead, forced to leave with injury minutes later
Loic Remy's moment of joy was quickly erased when the Chelsea striker appeared to injure himself following his opening goal of the match against Maribor in the Champions League.
Remy showed great composure upon receiving the ball outside the Maribor box as he appeared to be waiting for his teammates to provide support.
Instead, Remy created enough space to fire a low, left-footed shot into the far corner of the net to put Chelsea up 1-0 in their third match of the Champions League group stage.
The French international almost immediately signaled to the Chelsea bench in obvious discomfort following the shot. He remained on the pitch until he was replaced by Didier Drogba three minutes later.
Drogba doubled the host's lead in the 23rd minuted when he converted from the penalty spot.
