APOEL could only withstand 28 minutes of pressure from Barcelona before finally conceding in Wednesday's Champions League fixture.
After Cypriot defender Marios Antoniades earned a yellow card for a reckless challenge on Dani Alves just outside the box, Lionel Messi delivered a perfect cross into the box that Gerard Pique casually headed into the back of the net.
The goal marks Pique's 21st for the Catalan club.
