Vermaelen (ankle) will miss Arsenal's match against Sunderland on Saturday, the Daily Mail reports.
Vermaelen did not feature in Belgium's mid-week fixture due to injury and looks to be facing a similar fate this weekend for Arsenal. In his absence, Laurent Koscielny will have a late fitness test on his calf to determine if he can play in defense.
