Juventus' Higuain out of Sevilla clash with thigh problem

Juventus' infirmary is getting crowded.

The Bianconeri, already missing the likes of Paulo Dybala, Marko Pjaca, and Andrea Barzagli, will now be without leading scorer Gonzalo Higuain for Tuesday's crucial Champions League trip to Sevilla.

The Argentine striker sustained a left thigh injury in the latter stages of Saturday's comfortable 3-0 win over Pescara, and has not been included in the squad for the match at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

The €90-million summer signing has found the net nine times in all competitions so far this season, and his absence - together with that of Dybala - leaves manager Massimiliano Allegri with a conundrum heading into Tuesday's contest.

Mario Mandzukic and 16-year-old Moise Kean are the only two natural strikers available to the Tuscan, which could force Allegri to ditch his preferred 3-5-2 formation in favour of something that features a pair of wingers in support of the big Croatian in a 4-3-3 system.

Juventus, sitting second in its Champions League group behind Sevilla, needs one point to secure qualification to the Round of 16, but a loss would see any chance of topping the section disappear, while even a draw will likely be enough for the Spanish side to win Group H when all is said and done.
