Aguero: City's going 'all out to win' Champions League

Sergio Aguero has downplayed suggestions that Manchester City will have a preferred opponent in Friday's Champions League semi-final draw, and said his team is "all out to win it."

City reached the final four for the first time courtesy of a battling 3-2 aggregate victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, and will join Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Atletico Madrid in the competition's latter stages.

"At this point you cannot choose," Aguero said when prompted for views on the draw. "To win the Champions League you have to play against the best and we were up against one of those, a favourite. Paris are a great team, they have very good players we knew that we did a great job over there; here at home with the fans support I think we did what we had to do."

Kevin De Bruyne's goal in the second leg - coming after he scored in the first fixture - turned out to be the decisive strike. It was a meeting where both sides struggled to assume control of the midfield, and for the long periods Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic cut peripheral figures for their respective teams.

"We won well, at times we couldn't control the ball but we played pretty well, we knew how we had to play and I hope, we hope, we can continue in the same fashion," the Argentinian forward continued. "Now we'll have to see who the other candidates are but we know it will be tough.

"This was our goal, to be among the four best teams in the Champions League and now we want to keep growing. The confidence is there, we are in semis and anything can happen. We will be at our maximum, depending on who we play against, but we will be going all out to win it."

Manuel Pellegrini will relinquish control of City this summer for current Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola, and Aguero is pleased to give the Chilean a thrilling send-off from northwest England.

"We know that Pellegrini won't be there for the next season so to be in the semis is something really amazing, it gives us great pride to take City to this level."

By the time City takes the Stamford Bridge pitch to face Chelsea on Saturday, it will have already learned of the team it will have to beat to reach the Champions League final staged at AC Milan and Inter Milan's San Siro on May 28.
