Barca extends Messi through 2018

MADRID, Dec 18, 2012 (AFP) - Barcelona's Argentine star striker Lionel Messi has agreed to renew his contract at the Spanish league leaders until June 2018, the club said Tuesday.

Barcelona said in a statement it had reached an agreement with Messi, whose current contract expires in 2016, and he would sign his new deal "in the coming weeks".
