Zach Collaros believes he'll be on the field when the 2016 season gets underway.

Despite undergoing surgery for a torn ACL only four months ago, Collaros told TSN's Matthew Scianitti his recovery is going well, and he doesn't anticipate missing any time.

"I feel great," Collaros said. "I have the full range of motion, we’re strengthening it every day – right now we’re trying to get my quad the same size as the other quad. "It’s just been great and I feel great. I can’t wait for the start of the season and I have a really good feeling that I’m gonna be ready to go."

Collaros was in the midst of a tremendous season before going down, throwing for 3,376 yards and 25 touchdowns. Hamilton lost four of its final six games without Collaros before bowing out to the Ottawa RedBlacks in the playoffs.

If Collaros can remain remain healthy this season, the Tiger-Cats figure to be contenders to capture the Grey Cup, and it's been so far, so good for the pivot during his rehab.

"There are always milestones you hit with the ACL rehab, so when that time comes I’ll have a better idea and I’ll be able to give you a better idea," he said. "The mini-camp I’m not sure about but I’d like to be ready for training camp. I think I’ll be able to be practising but it’s the full-go situation so we’ll see Everybody heals differently, it’s not an exact science.

"So far it’s been great and I’ll be ready to go."
