RedBlacks sign Trevor Harris to reported 2-year deal
The Ottawa RedBlacks have signed quarterback Trevor Harris, the team announced Tuesday. Matthew Scianitti of TSN reports that it's a two-year deal.
"(He was) our number one target, something we had to accomplish in order to solidify that position - a little bit for this year but more so for the future," said general manager Marcel Desjardins. "I think all the RedBlacks fans saw what he can do when he played very well against us here in Ottawa and throughout the season really, so we’re thrilled to have him."
Harris impressed for the Toronto Argonauts last season when he filled in for an injured Ricky Ray, throwing for 4,354 yards and 33 touchdowns.
Henry Burris is slated to be the starter in Ottawa, but he's 40 years old, so Harris should have the opportunity to grab the No. 1 job in the not-so-distant future.
