Eskimos look to extend winning streak vs. struggling Lions

The Edmonton Eskimos and BC Lions couldn't be headed in more opposite directions as they enter play Saturday.

The Eskimos are on a five-game winning streak and haven't lost since Sept. 7. The Lions, on the other hand, have won just once in that span.

Statistically, the Eskimos boast the top defence in the league; the Lions have one of the worst. BC's offence isn't much better, while Edmonton's is, at the very least, respectable.

Edmonton is settled at quarterback with Mike Reilly, while the Lions seem torn between veteran Travis Lulay and rookie Jonathon Jennings. Lulay has been sidelined since Sept. 3 with a knee injury, and even though he appears healthy enough to return, he'll hold the clipboard Saturday as Jennings leads the huddle.

In the Eskies' sights is a first-round bye plus home-field advantage in the playoffs. BC, meanwhile, is looking at a three-way battle with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Montreal Alouettes for the final playoff spot in the West.

Should be a good one from the City of Champions!
