Lions, Blue Bombers square off in battle for 3rd

In a tale of two teams with the same story, the BC Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers will go at it for the third and final playoff spot in the West.

If they were competing in the East Divsion, both teams would be in last place. But as it stands, the Lions currently hold down third with 10 points, as the Blue Bombers sit tight with eight points.

Under the direction of rookie quarterback Jonathon Jennings, the Lions will look to keep the good vibes going against the second-worst road team in the CFL.

Although quarterback Travis Lulay is available, Jennings' four touchdown passes in last week's 46-20 win over Saskatchewan will likely earn him another start.

For Winnipeg, coming off a heartbreaking 24-23 loss to Edmonton wasn't the worst part. It was the fact that kicker Lirim Hajrullahu missed four field goals and an extra point.

Quarterback Matt Nichols also deserved better, passing for 320 yards and a score. Nevertheless, it's tough to turn a blind eye to Winnipeg's 3-6 division record, to go with a current league-worst three-game losing streak.
