Roughriders hope to play spoiler vs. Tiger-Cats

The 2-12 Saskatchewan Roughriders don't have much to play for Friday, but they have a chance to spoil the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' bid for first place in the Eastern Division.

The Tiger-Cats are coming off a disappointing loss to the Calgary Stampeders after they gave up two field goals in the final minute. With the defeat, Hamilton dropped to 8-5, and coupled with Toronto's win Tuesday over Ottawa, the Ticats are now in a first-place tie with the Argos.

Hamilton hasn't won a game since losing quarterback Zach Collaros for the season after he tore his ACL.

Meanwhile, Sakatchewan hasn't had much to cheer about this season. The Roughriders have gone 2-3 since firing head coach Corey Chamblin and appear destined to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2011.

One of the few bright spots has been running back Jerome Messam, who still has a chance to win the rushing title. Messam currently sits just a yard back of B.C.'s Andrew Harris for the CFL lead.

The Roughriders will need a big game from Messam if they hope to put a dent into the Ti-Cats' aspirations to finish atop the East.
