Calgary escapes with 25-23 win over Winnipeg
The Calgary Stampeders extended their lead in the West Division with a 25-23 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Friday night.
The Stampeders survived a late push by the Blue Bombers as Winnipeg's bid for a fourth-quarter comeback came up just short, with kicker Lirim Hajrullahu missing a last-second 48-yard field goal that would've won the game for the Bombers.
Calgary quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell finished the game 27-for-35 with 333 yards and one touchdown pass, while Bombers pivot Matt Nichols went 18-for-28 with 234 yards and two touchdowns, but it ultimately wasn't enough to top the first-place Stampeders.
Next week, the Stampeders travel to Hamilton to play the Tiger-Cats, while the Blue Bombers head to BC Place to face the Lions, the team a spot ahead of them in the standings.
